Cheap and Cheerful: Mascara

By Friday, August 14, 2015 , , , , ,

Apart from my Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, I honestly don't see the point in saving your pennies for a high-end mascara as your local boots stocks some that are probably better.

I'm not just saying this, I really have tried out my fair few high-end ones (unfortunately, as it's ended up being a waste of my money) and I just haven't had the best experiences. Benefit's They're Real gave me really spidery lashes *shudders*, the Estee Lauder Sumptuous Infinite was too wet in formula (even after a couple of months) and the list can go on.

To start off with, in my opinion you're pretty much guaranteed to get a decent mascara with any of these two brands. Most of them offer the best of both worlds; volume and length.

Now, I'm not too unfortunate in the lashes department, I've luckily got decent length on them but not too much volume and so I find that's what I go for most but then again, I wont say no to a bit more length.

The only mascara in those pictured above that gives me length more than anything is the Maybelline Rocket Mascara. This one really separates the lashes and makes them sky high. I usually opt for this mascara when I've not got much on and don't really need to buff up my lashes too much.

Another option for when I've not got much going is the L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara. This gives me the best 'my lashes but better' look. It really does just enhance my natural lashes and makes them look super fluttery. I think I've got the bristle brush to thank for that as I find the only other mascara that does this is my Better Than Sex one (providing the same bristle brush) except that gives me x100 more drama.

Now if I want the best of both worlds; length and some voluminous drama then I'm opting for the recently crazed about the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. Before you ask, yes it is totally worth the hype. It offers length, separation and volume all in the shape of a strange, thick and curved plastic wand.

If any of those don't appeal to you then another few of my favourites are the L'Oreal Paris Miss Manga despite the wiggly wand, Maybelline Falsies Mascara (an oldie but a goodie) and I've also picked up the Rimmel Extra 3D Lash Mascara in the past and loved it.

So from what you've gathered in this post, please recommend some cheap and cheerful mascaras you'd think I'd like or tell me some of your favourites as I'm always up for trying new mascaras. Although saying that, it is a dangerous job as having too many open on the go leaves you with endless choices...

Until the next post,

Deanna
